Obituary For Harriet Naomi Thurston-White

Harriet Naomi Thurston White passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025 at the age of 66. Born on March 5,1959 in Nyack, NY to Kenneth P and Harriet J Thurston.

She grew up in Haverstraw, NY and graduated from NRHS. She became the first female to work at Tilcon in Haverstraw, driving dump trucks transporting stone. She worked the night shift at Walmart in Suffern, NY and took care of her aging parents during the day. She continued her career at Walmart when she relocated to Interlachen, FL. She worked at Walmart for twenty plus years until 2019, when she became ill.

She was a staple in the Interlachen community where she purchased and restored mobile homes for rent. She strived to give affordable accommodations to those struggling. She was someone who would give the shirt off of her back to help another. She was a beautiful person inside and out. She let you know what for when she felt the need, but was always the first to help.

She will be missed by many. For anyone who would like to send a card or flowers, please donate in her memory to Wounded Warriors or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or just help out a neighbor because that is what she would have done.

Harriet is survived by her son, Steven Thurston, his wife, Lisa Thurston, her grandchildren: Megan Thompson, Ryan Thompson, Danielle Langford, and Heather Poletta, five great grandchildren: Zoey, Emma, Hayden Jackie and Parker; and loving siblings: Denver Thurston, Interlachen FL, Edward Thurston, Stony Point NY, James and (Kathy) Thurston Stony Point NY, Catherine Baran Interlachen FL, Michael and (Alicia)Thurston Newburgh NY, Joseph and (Karen) Thurston NJ, Morag and (Jim) Cuff Middletown, NY, Julie and (George) Lissauer Cumming GA, Pauline and (Frank) Lilos Ft.
