Denise Wiseman, 73, of Simla, Colorado, formerly of Greenville, IL, passed away peacefully at home on June 11, 2023.

Denise was born August 6, 1949 in Gary, Indiana to Harry and Harriet Gamauf and was raised on the Crown G Ranch outside of Crown Point, Indiana.

She graduated from high school in 1967 and went on to obtain a master's degree in pastoral counseling from Lincoln Christian Seminary. On November 18th, 1979, she married Fred Wiseman of Greenville, IL at Jefferson Street Christian Church in Lincoln, IL.

They spent the next fourteen years living and beginning their family near Alton, IL. In 1993 they returned to Fred's hometown of Greenville, where they were active in the First Christian Church.

Denise devoted all of her working life both to ministry and to the care and nurture of others. She spent several years in youth and children's ministry before becoming the Dean of Women at Lincoln Christian College. After moving to Greenville Denise became a licensed clinical social worker and was a counselor with the Prairie Counseling Center. In later years she worked as a chaplain for both Faith Countryside Homes in Highland, IL, and the Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro.

Denise spent the last years of her life in Simla, Colorado near her children and grandchildren, and was a member of Elbert Christian Church.

Denise will be remembered as a generous personality who loved others deeply. She was a teacher at heart, teaching everything from toddler sunday school to college. She was devoted to her churches and spent many years assisting with the education departments, singing in the choir, and being a genuine friend, listener, mentor and helper. She was a person of great hospitality whose devotion to God and to her friends and family was able to shine in all she did.

Denise was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Harriet Gamauf. She is survived by her husband Fred, daughters Nikki (Tyler) Schield and Danielle (Jessup) Schield of Colorado Springs Colorado; her grandchildren Rivers, Winter, Graham and Huck, all of Colorado Springs; Her brother Dennis (Cheryl) Gamauf of Union Mills Indiana; her sister Melody Babcock of Valparaiso, Indiana; and another sister Michelle (Tim) Lucas also of Valparaiso; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at the Elbert Christian Church in Elbert, Colorado on June 23rd at 11:00 am, and at the Greenville First Christian Church on July 7th at 11:00 am.

Memorials may be made to Lincoln Christian University, 100 Campus View Drive, Lincoln, IL 62656 and Bond Christian Service Camp 1119 Missouri Blvd. Mulberry Grove, IL 62262.
