Harriett Yvonne Hethcox (Norket) age 75, of Monroe, North Carolina. Ms. Hethcox passed away peacefully at her home on Thanksgiving Day, November 27, 2025. She was born on August 22, 1950, in Norfolk, Virginia. The daughter of Jay Wiley Norket and Bessie Geneva Norket (Herring). She was preceded in death by both her beloved parents Jay and Geneva and brother Steve Norket (survived by his wife Denise).
A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Thursday, December 4, 2025, in Monroe City Cemetery Suncrest. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1:00PM until 1:45PM at Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory, 1904 Lancaster Ave, Monroe, NC 28112.
She will be remembered for her incredible strength, her warm humor, and the deep love she had for her family and friends.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Tamara Hethcox Samples, Tony Hethcox, and Tommy Hethcox and wife (Susan). She was also blessed with eight grandchildren: Nicole Stephens husband (Brent), Summer Gang, husband (Simon) and Destiny Chan.
Anthony Hethcox, Jared Hethcox, Chelsea Hethcox and Kristian Nichols.
Christopher Hethcox, six great-grandchildren: Xander Stephens, Bailey Stephens, Skyler Stephens, Atticus Gang, Michael Chan and Aubree Hethcox., niece and nephews Jason Norket, Leah Norket Jones husband (Adolphus) Seth Norket wife (Tiffany), as well as a great niece and nephew Brenda and Jay Jones.
Harriett was affectionately known as Mama, Mawmaw, Aunt and friend to many. She was a cherished member of Zion Baptist Church (Gastonia NC) and will be fondly remembered for the love and laughter she brought into the lives of everyone she knew.
