James “Harris” Wright, 85, of Powder Springs, GA passed away December 31, 2025 in Dallas, GA. Harris is preceded in death by his parents Vannie Edward Wright and Beulah Gilland Wright, and brother Harold Edward Wright.
Harris was born December 30, 1940 in Villa Rica, GA spending the last 70 years in the Mableton/Powder Springs area. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a devoted follower of Christ and member of First Baptist Church Powder Springs for over 40 years. Harris worked for many years in the financial disciplines for oil companies, contractors and logistic suppliers until retiring in 2006. Harris enjoyed traveling with family and friends during his retirement until his stroke in 2021.
He is survived by his wife and favorite travel companion of 62 years Barbara “Gail” Wright of Powder Springs, GA, sons Scott Harris Wright, Eric Eugene Wright both of Powder Springs, GA, sister Linda Rakestraw of Dallas, GA, grandchildren, Jonathan Wright, Jacob Wright, Erica Wright, Houston Wright and Montana Wright, daughter in laws, Audra Wright, Kellie Wright, and brother-in-law, David Rakestraw.
The family will receive friends for visitation at First Baptist Church Powder Springs 4330 North Ave., 30127 January 17, 2026 from 12:00pm – 2:00pm funeral service to follow. Final resting place, Sunrise Memorial Gardens in Douglasville, Georgia.
