To Anyone who knows Harry James Brown,
I used to kid him about his name, especially in light of his own musical journey; Harry James was a renowned trumpet player, and James Brown the godfather of soul. The joining of these two is Harry James Brown, who I am sure appreciated both.
I would venture to guess that many who knew Harry were perhaps like me, in one of the more difficult stretches of life, when he came into the picture.
A remarkable man of many interests, well versed in a great deal of subjects, and a purveyor of new ideas and modalities. He didn´t just read about things, he did them! Among his greatest attributes was curiosity. Harry was endlessly curious about so much, but more importantly, so many.
Harry had the unique ability to meet whoever he came in contact with at their level, whatever that was. His talent for relating to what you were going through was powerful and deeply connecting. I mentioned before Harry´s sense of curiosity which he gleefully passed on to all who were interested. I believe I learned about more things from Harry than I learned in much of my schooling. After all, he had ALL the books you´d ever need in his office.......several of which I´m proud to say brought about meaningful change and growth.
Curiosity, attentiveness, compassion and wisdom. The only thing I haven´t mentioned was connection and Harry was more than well versed in this aspect. I´ve met so many interesting people through Harry, not to mention healers of all kinds.
I think that´s where I´ll leave it. Harry was a healer, a soul healer. I´ll miss him terribly but the gratitude I have for him showing up in my life at such an important time, and what he was able to impart on my journey, that my thoughts of Harry aren´t sad, but rather triumphant for the life force he was and brought to so many.
With great respect and admiration,
John Brett
