With great respect and love, the family of Dr. Harry James Brown announces his passing on August 12, 2025. Harry was a man of great heart and compassion. Insatiably curious, he spent his life pursuing knowledge and was committed to constantly learning and growing himself, while also sharing the wisdom and teachings he gathered in both Eastern and Western spiritual traditions. As a Doctor of Medicine and Psychiatry, he had a long career that spanned over 60 years and touched the lives of many people, primarily in CT and NYC. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Harry attended the University of Maryland for both college and medical school, before entering the Air Force as a psychiatrist. After the Vietnam War, he moved with his family to Westport, CT where he started a private practice. A man of many talents, Harry had a genuine passion for music, especially jazz, and he enjoyed performing on the bandstand where he played alto saxophone. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard and Katherine Brown; his sister, Mary Ann Johns; his first wife, Patricia Ferguson Brown; his son, Trevor Brown; his grandson Sebastien LeMorillon Brown; and stepson Jesse Farbman. He leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Ann Farbman-Brown; brother, George Brown; son, Chris Brown (Lucy); daughter Patty Lea (Andy); stepdaughter Leah Farbman; and three grandchildren Kaylee Farbman, Alex Lea, and Charlotte Lea.There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Westport, 10 Lyons Plains Road, Westport, CT 06880.
