Harry Andrew Brown Sr., age 89, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving daughters on January 11, 2025, in
Slidell, Louisiana. Born on December 27, 1935, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to the late Harry and Blanche Brown, Harry's journey through life was marked by a warm heart, a robust laugh, and an ever-present willingness to lend a helping hand.
A proud graduate of Williamson College of the Trades, Harry dedicated his life to the trade of a diesel mechanic. His skills were not only his livelihood but also his passion, which was evident to all who knew him. Harry's commitment to service extended beyond his professional life as he honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps. His sense of community was further demonstrated through his many years as a volunteer firefighter, a role in which he found great purpose and camaraderie.
Harry was a man of many interests, but none so dear to him as the restoration of his beloved 1938 Mack Firetruck. Over the years, along with his son, Harry Jr, he meticulously restored it to pristine condition, and it became a symbol of his dedication and attention to detail. Harry took immense pride in showcasing his firetruck in numerous parades, and it was the one possession that earned a permanent spot in his wallet-not through pictures of his children, but through photos of his treasured truck that he eagerly shared with anyone he met.
His sense of humor and his knack for storytelling left indelible impressions on those around him. Harry was the epitome of someone who was loving, funny, and handy- a man who could fix anything and often did so for those he loved.
Harry's legacy is carried on by his devoted daughters, Kimberly Anne Dupuy whom he fondly called "Kimmy" and her husband, Kevin, and Jennifer Lynn Dauzat, with her husband, Charles. His spirit lives on through his grandchildren, Kevin Dupuy Jr. and his wife, Kristen; Nicole Dupuy and her partner, Amanda; Allison Fonte with her husband, Ethan; Jessica and Jordan Dauzat; and Emma and Oliver Brown. Harry also leaves behind great-grandchildren, Logan Dupuy, Asher Dupuy, and Koa Fonte, who will grow up hearing tales of their PaPa Harry's warmth and kindness.
Though preceded in death by his cherished wife of 35 years, Ann Brown; his son, Harry Brown Jr.; his brothers, Phillip Brown, Richard Brown, and Robin Brown; his nephew, Ritchie Brown; and his parents, Harry's memory will continue to be honored by his surviving family members. This includes a daughter-in-law, Megan Brown; sister-in-law, Kathleen Brown; a niece, Mary Brown Conway; and his cousins, Martha and Fran. Each of them will hold onto the love and laughter that Harry shared so freely.
Harry's final years were brightened by the companionship of his dear friend, Harriet Payton; the mother of his two daughters, Nancy Harrison; and his loyal dog, Leroy Brown, who was a source of comfort and joy in his later days.
Harry Andrew Brown's life was a testament to the beauty of simple pleasures, the value of hard work, and the importance of family. He was a man who made a lasting impact on his community and the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him. As we bid farewell to Harry, we celebrate a life well-lived, a life filled with purpose, and a life that was truly cherished by many. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will forever be treasured by all who loved him.
