Deacon John C. Weber passed away on June 3, 2025, at the age of 86, due to Leukemia. Born on July 3, 1938, in Port Arthur, Texas, to the late Clovis and Ella Weber, John was a resident of Perkinston, Mississippi, for the past five years and a former resident of
Slidell, Louisiana, for almost 50 years.
John, affectionately called "PawPaw," was the loving husband of the late Jaynell Weber for 59 years until her passing. Together, they raised a family that became his pride and joy, which include his children, Jason Weber (Tina) and Jayne Harrison (Chuck), and his cherished grandchildren, Justin Weber (Nicole), Victoria Grady (Andrew), Bailey Weber (Bailey), Brooke Hardaway (Tyler), Chandler Weber, Taylor Weber, Logan Weber, Chad Harrison (Haley), Rachel Lizana (Kyle), Danielle Palmisano (Chris), Hannah Olvera (Martin), Mary Clare Warren (Kenneth), Teresa Harrison, Gianna Harrison, and Mirjana Harrison, as well as 16 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends, all of whom he loved greatly.
John was the last surviving sibling, preceded in death by his sisters, Georgia Hoitsma, Ellen Spears, and Marian Parr.
John's life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to his faith and his family. After earning his bachelor's degree from Lamar University in 1966 and his master's degree from LSU in 1968, John was a chemist with the Texas Parks and Wildlife until 1972 before moving to Louisiana to begin his career with the United States Army Corps of Engineers, retiring as a Branch Chief in 1998. His work ethic and leadership were an inspiration to all who knew him. In 1987, John answered the calling to become a deacon, a role he embraced with the same passion and diligence he applied to every endeavor. His commitment to his faith community was evident through his involvement in Marriage Encounter and the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), where he guided many on their spiritual journeys.
A man of many interests, John was an avid hunter who found solace in the beauty of nature. Those who knew John would describe him as loving and faith-filled. His warm presence and the wisdom he shared will be profoundly missed by all. His children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will cherish the time they spent with Paw Paw and Granny at their property in Mississippi ("The Land").
