Harry George Giousios

Harry Giousios, 71, of Whippany, passed away on March 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He leaves behind a legacy rich with laughter, kindness, and an unwavering dedication to those he cherished.

Born and raised in Athens, Greece, Harry came to the United States at the age of eight, settling in Jersey City. He grew up there, embracing the opportunities of his new home while holding tightly to his Greek heritage-a source of pride and connection throughout his life.

After marrying the love of his life, Christine of 47 years, he lived in Secaucus and Elmwood Park before finally making Whippany his home in 1992, where he remained for the rest of his days.

Harry pursued his education with determination, attending Jersey City State College and earning his bachelor's degree from William Paterson University.

For over 25 years, Harry was the proud owner and operator of two beloved businesses, International Delites and Closter Deli & Catering. Known for his tireless work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, he built these ventures with care and commitment. Later, he embarked on a new chapter at Ford Motor Company in Cranbury, where he rose to the position of Maintenance Supervisor before retiring in 2020. His dedication extended beyond his work, serving as a Health & Safety Representative for the UAW and holding the role of PMHV trainer (Powered Material Handling Vehicle) at Ford.

A devoted member of the Greek-American community, Harry served as President of the Sons of Pericles and was a proud member of AHEPA, always fostering a sense of unity and cultural pride.

Harry's passion for sports was a lifelong joy. A devoted New York Jets fan, he held season tickets for many years, rarely missing a game. He was also a lifelong supporter of the Yankees. In his youth, Harry played college football and later shared his love of the game by coaching youth football and baseball as his sons grew up. He especially treasured driving the WPHS Marching Band van, enjoying the camaraderie it brought. His favorite Greek soccer team was A.E.K., a testament to his enduring connection to his roots.

Above all, Harry treasured his family. With a magnetic personality and a wonderful sense of humor, he was known as a loving prankster who brought joy and laughter to those around him. To his family, he was the best husband, father, uncle, and grandfather anyone could hope for.

He was predeceased by his parents, George and Eleni Giousios.

Harry is survived by his beloved wife, Christine (Jemas) Giousios; his cherished sons, George Giousios and Peter Giousios, and Peter's wife, Shannon, whom he lovingly considered a daughter; and his treasured grandson, Carter Harry Giousios.

As an only child, Harry was blessed to marry into a large Greek family. He shared a special bond with his mother-in-law, Sophie Jemas, and father- in law, the late Peter Jemas, his sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, Aunts, Uncles, nieces, nephews, beloved cousins and an abundance of close friends.

Relatives and friends are invited for visitation on Wednesday from 4 to 8 PM at Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Avenue, Roseland, NJ 07068 (farmerfh.com). A funeral ceremony will be held Thursday at 10 AM at Ss. Nicholas, Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, with interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, New Jersey.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Ss. Nicholas, Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church or Goryeb Children's Hospital, Morristown.
