Harry Hayner, Jr., 88, passed away February 25, 2024. Harry was born July 7, 1935 in Kansas City, Missouri to Harry Hayner, Sr. and Leona (Frank) Hayner. Harry was an eight-year US Air Force veteran and a 27 year veteran of the Kansas City Police Department.
Harry had compassion, empathy, always showed hospitality and always made people feel at home, even to strangers. Harry was always smiling, and his wife Margarita had the same smile. He had a knack for carpentry and do it yourself home fixer. Harry had a green thumb, was a self-taught cook and was not afraid of technology. He retired to take care of Margarita and on his down time, he used the computer and researched his ancestral history. He loved and retained so much history about our family and enjoyed talking about it for hours. Harry also loved animals. He loved to walk his dog daily until he was not able to. He also loved feeding the birds. Prior to his dementia, he was a caregiver for Margarita for 25 years of their 56 years of marriage until she passed.
Harry was preceded in death by his wife, Margarita, his brother Johnny, sisters Beryl and Phyllis, one grandchild and a great grandchild. He is survived by his son, Romeo Hayner (Nita), daughters, Rosario Fletcher, Susan Lanning (Dennis Deere), Linda Stasi (John), Mary Watson (Gary). He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 1PM, Monday, March 4 at Park Lawn Funeral Home, 8251 Hillcrest Rd., Kansas City, Missouri; burial in Memorial Park Cemetery.
