Harry A. John, 88, passed away on December 29, 2025, at Littleton Regional Hospital. He was born on September 19, 1937, in St. Johnsbury, VT, the son of the late Napoleon and Alice (Breton) John.

A graduate of St. Johnsbury Trade School, Harry built a career rooted in skill, integrity, and dedication. He worked for Cary Maple and Brinks Flooring before owning and operating Harry’s Floor Covering for more than 35 years. Through his business, he earned a reputation for exceptional quality and outstanding customer service, values he held himself to every day.

Above all else, Harry cherished his family. He and Doris (Austin) were married April 25, 1959, in West Burke, VT. Harry took deep pride in watching his son’s accomplishments, great joy in his granddaughters, and adored watching his four great grandchildren grow. He loved traveling with his wife, creating lasting memories together, and spending hours playing cards or Wii bowling with family and friends, always enjoying the laughter and friendly competition.

A proud member of the Vermont 251 Club, Harry was an avid car enthusiast, enjoying everything from classic to modern vehicles, and followed sports with enthusiasm—especially the Boston Red Sox and during the last few years, the New England Patriots. He also enjoyed watching boxing and a variety of game shows. He always planned at least 3 days a week to attend the Senior Meal Sites, where he looked forward to being social and reminiscing on times past.

Even toward the end of his life, Harry remained active and on the go. He loved the outdoors, cutting, splitting and stacking firewood and always found comfort in the warmth of his wood stove, a simple pleasure.

Harry is predeceased by his wife, Doris John, brothers-in-law, Merton Austin, Clarence Hardy, and Don Batchelder, sister-in-law, Joyce Hardy, and his great grandson, Tyson John-Stone.

He is survived by his sons, Douglas and Michael John; granddaughters, Danielle (Damon) Carr and Michelle John; sister, Gladys Batchelder; great grandchildren, Riley Carr, Trinity and Layne John-Stone; other family members, Barbara John, Judith John, Rob Stone and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held in spring 2026. Details to be announced later.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial contribution to the West Burke Senior Meal Site.
