Harry Kellam Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Johnson Funeral and Cremation Service - Bridgewater on May 4, 2024.
Harry Milson Kellam, age 90, passed away on May 3rd, 2024, in Bridgewater, VA. He was born on June 5, 1933, to Milson and Nannie Bet (Tyler) Kellam in Norfolk, VA.
Harry graduated from Shenandoah College and Conservatory of Music and embarked on a career in teaching High School music, which included leading the Marching Band. Music was a cornerstone for Harry and his beloved wife, Barbara Jean. Apart from teaching, they enjoyed attending concerts, Marching Band Competitions, and singing in the Church Choir. After teaching, Harry transitioned to a successful sales career, running a business from his home in Dayton alongside Barbara Jean. He retired in 1998 after representing Avotek, an aviation company based in Bridgewater, VA.
Harry was an active member of various men's ministries, including hosting a weekly Men's Prayer breakfast in Dayton and being a trained Stephen Minister. For many years, he and Barbara Jean were devoted members of Cooks Creek Presbyterian Church, where they sang in the choir. Harry also participated in other church communities throughout the valley.
In his leisure time, Harry and Barbara Jean traveled the country on their motorcycle and took many trips to Europe with friends. He indulged in woodworking, golfing, barbershop choruses, and spending quality moments with family at their lake home in Smith Mountain Lake. His passion for motorcycles was well-known, and he often rode around BRCC on his scooter with his cherished dog, Scooter, along for the ride.
Harry is survived by his Sister Reverend Patricia Kellam, four children Greg and Pat Kellam, Pam and Mike Estes, Dawn and Chad Barnett, David Kellam, 7 Grandchildren Adam Kellam, Hunter Barnett, Carter Wood, Aaron Barnett, Erica Foltz, Harry Kellam and Grayce Anne Kellam and nine Great-Grand Children.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milson and Bet (Tyler) Kellam, and his beloved wife, Barbara Jean Ruebush Kellam.
A memorial service will be held at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at the Lantz Chapel of the Bridgewater Retirement Community.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon prior to the service.
