Harry Marchetti Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Earle Funeral Home - Blackwood on Jun. 24, 2025.
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Harry James Marchetti, affectionately known as Jim, he left this world gently, with his family by his side on June 21, 2025, following a courageous three-month battle after suffering a massive heart attack. Born on November 26, 1958, to the late Joseph Anthony Marchetti and Helen May Marchetti (nee Smith).
Surrounded by the unwavering care and expertise of the medical team at the University of Pennsylvania, Harry overcame the initial heart attack with resilience and strength. Though the weeks that followed brought ongoing complications and tribulations, he faced each challenge with quiet bravery, never losing his spirit or the love he had for his family.
Harry grew up in South Jersey after moving from Philadelphia at the age of six. He attended Collingswood High School and carried with him the values instilled during his years at Catholic school. Over the course of 30 years in Erial, NJ, he built a life rooted in love, community, and quiet strength. It was in this town that he raised his family, formed lifelong friendships, and became a steady presence to all who knew him.
A true jack of all trades, he spent much of his career at Mannington Mills in Salem County, NJ, where his hard work and dedication earned the respect of all who worked alongside him. He previously operated heavy equipment for C&H Mechanical in Westville, NJ, and traveled as a master mechanic for Your Place Auto in Westmont, NJ. No matter where he worked, his absence was always felt- he was known not just for skill, but for his quick wit, unforgettable jokes, and the natural comedian's presence he brought into every room.
Harry's faith carried him through a lifelong battle with heart disease, grounded in his recent and most powerful motto; 'Never Give Up.' He faced each challenge with calm strength, the steady presence of a true family man. Outside of his work, Harry found peace in nature- an avid hunter and fisherman, and a sun worshipper at heart. He loved nothing more than being down the shore, driving his truck along the sand with the salt air in his lungs and the sun on his face. It's only fitting that on the first day of summer, he drove one final stretch- this time, along heaven's shoreline, guided by faith, into eternal peace.
His family was his entire world. Harry is survived by his beloved wife, Colleen Marchetti (nee Swain); his children, Allen Summerville, Jr., Erin Roberts (Ed), and Kaycee Marchetti (Fletcher); his sisters, Hester DeRitis (the late Gaetano) and Rose Frank (Paul); and his granddaughters, Leighavana Frankie, Marchesa Colleen, and Ruby James. He was preceded in death by his sister, Cass Magnani (Walt), and brother, Joe Marchetti, as well as his father-in-law, the late Robert Swain, Sr. (his mother-in-law, Barbara Swain is surviving)
From the very beginning, there was an instant knowing- a quiet certainty between Harry and Colleen that they had found something rare. It was a soul-deep connection, a feeling of belonging that only true soulmates understand. That bond blossomed into 41 years together, including 34 years of devoted marriage. Their love became the foundation for a life centered on what mattered most, faith and family. Together, they built a home where love, growth, and unwavering support were constants. Raising a family was not just a part of their journey- it was the heart of it and the greatest joy of their lives.
Of all the roles Harry held in his life, his favorite by far was being 'Nonno' to his beloved grandbabies. He was a perfect father to his children- steadfast, loving, and always present. As a friend, Harry was the kind of person who showed up, sometimes literally at your doorstep- just because he cared. His humor was unforgettable, infectious in the best way, and his presence brought him warmth and light to every room. Whether he was making you laugh, lending a hand, or simply sharing a moment, Harry had a way of making everyone feel seen, heard, and loved.
Harry James Marchetti's legacy will live on through the countless stories of his humor, the love he shared, and the lives he touched. He was a man who never failed to give of himself, and his memory will be treasured by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Harry's life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and unwavering determination. While his journey ended sooner than we have ever imagined, we take comfort in knowing he is now at peace, free from pain, and forever in our hearts.
Harry's 1st viewing will be Friday, June 27, 2025, from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, NJ 08012.
