Harry Nichols, 77, of Beaumont, died Saturday, August 9, 2025. He was born on June 27, 1948, in Madisonville, Kentucky, to Virginia Baker and Harry Layton Nichols.

Harry was a North End guy, he attended Bend Gate and then Henderson County High School, graduating in 1966! He was the oldest of five children to Harry Layton and Virginia Nichols. Two siblings are still living and, in the Henderson, Kentucky area-Terry Nichols and Kathy Nichols Brown. He loved visiting with his nieces and nephews, Holly, Kaleb and Megan. His great-nieces and nephews, Jacob, John, Dalton, Zoe, Layton and Eli, loved seeing him.

He and Brenda were high school sweethearts and were married in November 1967. And then his adventures began. He loved fishing, hunting, going to the slews, target shooting, the occasional card game, a beer or a bourbon, travel, and life.

They eventually moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi for three years; Lismore, New South Wales, Australia; Virginia Beach, Virginia and finally Beaumont, Texas. Along the way, he also visited England, Spain, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Seoul, Korea. He loved visiting Tom while stationed in Germany, the snow and castles.

They had three sons, Tom, David, now deceased, and Chris and his wife, Lori, with grandchildren, Jillian and Jackson.

One of Harry's favorite past times developed during our life in Beaumont with the realization of a long time dream to own a corvette. Once hooked, he started with a 1994 red corvette coupe, then a deep rose (purple), then a caffeine metallic hard top convertible, reacquiring the deep rose and finally his pride and joy-a Z06 in caffeine. He loved participating in show and shines for local charities, the Trunk or Treat events, Blue Santa, the ChildFest toy drives, and PetCo with the Tri-Cities Corvette Club.

Our last two adventures were on cruises. The first cruise was with great life-long friends, Nancy Satterfield and Kathy Crawford, for an Alaskan cruise. Then to Caribbean with corvette loves, Deanna and Dwight Courts.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Nichols; children, Chris Nichols and his wife, Lori, of Lexington, Kentucky, and Tom Nichols of Beaumont; grandchildren, Jillian Ellis and her husband, Justin, of Enid, Oklahoma, and Jackson Nichols of Lexington, Kentucky; siblings, Terry Nichols of Henderson, Kentucky, and Kathy Nichols Brown and her husband, George, of Henderson, Kentucky; nieces and nephews, Holly Nichols, Kaleb Brown, and Megan Brown; Dad's other children his puppies, Max, Reno, and Leia; and numerous family, friends, and colleagues over the years.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Greg Nichols; sister, Anita Nichols; and son, David Nichols.

Memorial contributions may be made to Lamar University, JoAnne Gay Dishman School of Nursing.
