Harry J. Skinner, 85, of Barnesville, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 at Wood Glen in Dayton, Ohio. He was born on March 30, 1940 in Barnesville to the late Walter Stephen and Margaret (Gillespie) Skinner.
Harry was a 1958 graduate of Barnesville High School. He served in the US Air Force as a crew chief mechanic for the B-52 Bomber. He graduated from the Ohio Peace Officer Academy and served for a short time with the Barnesville Police Department. He was a strip miner for both Hanna Coal and Consol where he was a heavy equipment operator and later worked for R&F Coal until its closing. He was also an independent business owner as well. Harry belonged to the American Legion and Masonic Friendship Lodge #89 F&AM.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his brother, George Skinner; sister, Mary Lou Cowgill; and the mother of his child, Brenda Skinner.
Harry is survived by his son, Joe (Jean) Skinner of New Philadelphia; grandchild, Ashley (Paul) Anderson; brother, Richard Skinner of Dublin, Ohio; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 23, 2026 from 11:00am until the time of the service at 1:00pm with Pastor Rodney West officiating at Campbell-Plumly-Milburn Funeral Home, 319 North Chestnut Street, Barnesville, Ohio. Burial will follow at Crestview Cemetery.
Memorial contributions can be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation in Harry's name.
