David Wilson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Wilson Funeral Home - Bethesda Chapel on Mar. 20, 2026.
David (Dave) R. Wilson, 83, of Bethesda, Ohio, passed away on March 18, 2026. Born on February 11, 1943, in Barnesville, Ohio, he was a devoted husband of nearly 62 years to Christine and a loving father to Beth and David.

Dave was hardworking and dedicated. He spent 40 years working in education where he retired as Superintendent of Barnesville Public Schools. Despite his many responsibilities, he always made time for his family and his passion for golf.

Anyone who knew Dave knew that he loved to tell stories. He never met a stranger, whether he was standing in line at the local store or across the world vacationing with family, he always wanted to know the people around him. Though Dave may not have liked being the center of attention, he deserves to have his long years of fatherly love honored. He was a man of strength, integrity, kindness and generosity, and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.

Dave had one major hobby and that was golf. It did not matter what the weather was like or who was willing to brave the elements with him but he wanted to be "on the course". His love for golf was something he shared with his children and grandchildren leaving a mark on us that will never fade.

He is survived by his wife Christine, children, Beth (George) and David (Jen), grandchildren, Chelcie(Matt), Drew, Lauren(Erick), Derek, Sam and Stephanie and great grandchildren, Fiona, Josephine, Braylon, as well as many friends and extended family members who will miss him dearly.

The visitation will be on Monday, March 23, 2026 from 5-8pm at Wilson Funeral Home, Bethesda Chapel, 322 North Main Street, Bethesda, Ohio 43719. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 24th, at 11am. Reverend Thomas Detling will be officiating. Burial will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. There will be a reception at the Bethesda United Methodist church following the services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, a cause close to Dave's heart.

We find comfort in knowing that Dave's legacy lives on through the lessons he taught us, the love he shared, and the memories we will cherish forever.

Mr. Dave Wilson was one of my favorite teachers in Jr high school at Barnesville Schools!
He was SMART, humorous, and ingenious at helping all students learn and apply concepts! He had a gift of teaching!
I know he was friends with my parents, too.
What a blessing to have know him!
