Many wonderful memories of growing up next door to the Smith family and Joey. He was a treasured friend. Many prayers and thoughts to his family.

What a great leader, mentor, and friend. I started as a junior fireman at NIVFD and looked up to Smitty. He looked after us since we were so young in a dangerous job. I will always remember him and value the life lessons he taught me. Thank you Chief.

Well I was friends with his Dad good man and Joe aka Bozo as his dad called him was one of the finest fellows ive ever met , went to school with and had as our plumber. A dam good plumber and very fairly priced . We had a lot of fun together when he came to the plant or our homes. Mom loved him and he loved going to see her and talk over all his issues and getting her prayers and diagnosis from mom over tea and pie. When his Dad sold us tool at the plant hed always say i gotta get him to send his bills did he bill you?? Id say no its only been six months Then around ten or 12 months Joe eould call and say im bringin your bills and he would one yearx worth for ghe plant and everyone in the family he did work for and hed leave after an afternoon of fun and harassment by all. He was a friend like no other always willing to take the time and treated us like family. Joe we all live you and will surely miss you my friend! Go in peace and comfort to the Father buddy.
