Harvey W. “Billy” Bray, 84, of Reidsville, passed away on Tuesday, November 14, 2023.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, November 17, 2023, at Wilkerson Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Dunovant officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
Billy was born in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late William Thomas Bray and Mamie Wilson Bray. He was a building contractor for over 45 years, a cattle farmer, and worked at American Tobacco for 14 years until their closing in Reidsville. He was a member at Eastside Baptist Church for over 60 years and was the builder for their original church building and fellowship hall. He was a master carpenter, loved landscaping his yard and rabbit hunting. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Franklin Bray; sisters, Esther Dixon and Doris Ware.
He is survived by children, Roxanne Barber and husband, George, Tammy Knight, H. Greg Bray and wife, Vicky; grandchildren, George Barber, III and wife, Jenny, Sarah Shropshire and husband, Ricky, Erin Knight and fiancé, Tyler Willey, Katie Knight and Matthew Bray; great grandchildren, Kelsey and Kyndall Truitt, Ella Kate Barber and Abby French; brother, James “Bud” Thomas Bray; sisters, Lois McCollum and husband, Clarence, Louise Wray, Ann Loye and husband, Tony “Mac”; girlfriend, Shirley Smith.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Rockingham County, P.O. Box 281, Wentworth, NC 27375.
The family will like to thank the staff at The Landings of Rockingham and the staff at The Gibson House for the excellent care received.
