Harvey David Eluto

Harvey Eluto was the oldest child of Jerome and Ida Eluto. He is survived by his brother Larry of Brooklyn, NY and sister Susan of Baltimore, MD. He is also survived by his wife Harriett Snyder Eluto of 62 years and his 2 children, Sherry (Stuart Kaskawits) of Raleigh, NC and Moshe Lev Elutovich (Miriam) of Jerusalem, Israel. Harvey is also survived by seven grandchildren Ryan, Natalie, Shmuel Yisrael, Yitzchak, Bracha Sara, Yocheved, and Yosef Sholom. Harvey was a member of Temple Beth Or in Raleigh, North Carolina and Kehillat Bet Hamidrash, in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Harvey owned Bargain Books and Book Distribution Center before retiring to Raleigh in 2021. Harvey enjoyed years of volunteer work such as Federation of Tidewater, Brith Sholom, KBH, FBI Citizens Academy, Stratford Chase Civic League, Citizens Advisory Board of the Va. Beach Police Department, and Greater Wards Corner Business Association of Norfolk. Harvey was in the Coast Guard from 1963 to 1971 with active duty for 6 months, and for the remainder he was in the reserves. He was a graduate of Granby High Schools "Lost Class of 59".

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at 12:00 pm at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 8100 Granby Street, Norfolk, Virginia 23505. The funeral will be officiated by Cantor David Proser. Immediately following the service, the meal of consolation will be held at the home of Jenefer and Michael Snyder, 3485 Stirrup Way, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23453. On Thursday, March 12, family and friends are invited to the Snyder home from 6:30 – 8:30 pm with minyan at 7:00 pm. On Friday, March

13, the family welcomes friends and family from 2:00 - 4:30 pm at the Snyder home.
