Harvey Ronald "Ronnie" Ferrell

Durham – Harvey Ronald "Ronnie" Ferrell, 84, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 20, 2025, surrounded by his beloved family. Born in Durham to the late Josephine and Marlon Ferrell, Ronnie lived a life deeply rooted in community and service.
A proud graduate of East Carolina University, Ronnie dedicated more than three decades to the City of Durham Parks and Recreation Department before retiring. His passion for recreation extended far beyond his career-he served numerous boards and gave countless hours to organizations such as The Boys Club, Little League Baseball, Soap Box Derbies, and the annual Fourth of July fireworks at Duke University. He especially loved coaching softball, guiding adult women's teams, co-rec teams, and athletes at Riverside High School.
Ronnie's legacy lives on through his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Lee Williams Ferrell; daughters Mandy Lloyd (Danny) and Lisa Mangum (Tony); sons Ty Ferrell, Chris Estes, and Nick Estes (Leslie); grandchildren Lyndsay Ferguson (Chad), Madison Lloyd (Graham Miller), Jenni Mangum, Jessica Upchurch (Dustin), Jana Pendley (Andrew), and Haley Monday-Ferrell; and great-grandchildren Olivia Ferguson, Carsyn Wheless, Mia Pendley, Daisy Pendley, Anastasia Laws, and Owen Upchurch.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 1st at Clements Funeral Chapel in Durham, officiated by Pastor Charlie McNeill. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Clements Funeral Home prior to the service. Following the service, all are invited to gather in the Clements Gathering Room to celebrate Ronnie's life.
