WICHITA FALLS - Harvey E. Hamilton died peacefully at Hospice of Wichita Falls, located in Wichita Falls, Tx on October 8, 2024, at age 84. Harvey was diagnosed with Dementia in July of 2023, and fought his battle with the disease the past 12 months.
Harvey was born on July 2,1940 to parents, Harvey W. and Pauline Hamilton, and grew up in Diamond Hill, North Fort Worth, Texas. He was a member of Hilltop Baptist Church and served as a Sunday school teacher, also serving as the Superintendent of the young adult class. He was a Master Mason of Tarrant Lodge #9042 in Fort Worth, Texas. He also reached the level of 32nd Degree Mason.
In 1959, Harvey married Vera F. Stephenson and continued his career at Southwestern Petroleum in North Fort Worth. Harvey worked at Southwestern Petroleum as an Oil Mixer for 13 years. Later, he changed careers and went to work for Sears & Roebuck as an in-store and outdoor home improvement salesman. In 1983, Harvey, Vera, and their daughter, Christy followed their dream of moving to South Padre Island, Texas. On South Padre Island, they managed Fisherman's Lodge and thereafter managed LaConcha Condominiums. In 1985, they returned to the Fort Worth area. Harvey continued his career in management as an onsite manager at several storage facilities in Arlington, Texas.
Harvey was a lifelong coin and stamp collector. He also enjoyed collecting antique vises, tools, and many other items. Harvey played center on the varsity high school football team. and was a baseball pitcher for the Church. He enjoyed watching all types of sports.
As a young teenager, one of Harvey's highlights was serving as a bat boy for the Fort Worth Cats baseball team. In 2011, he got the opportunity to enjoy a Texas A&M Aggie football game as an Aggie Grandad.
In 2003, Harvey retired and enjoyed working in the yard and gardening at home.
He has been reunited in heaven with his parents, Harvey W. and Pauline Hamilton; and sister, Patricia Hamilton James.
He is survived by his wife, Vera, of Wichita Falls, TX; his son, Dana, and wife, Cara of Toutle, WA; his daughter, Christy, of Wichita Falls, TX; his grandson, Spencer, and wife, Ilissa, plus soon-to-be great-grandchild of Port Orchard, WA; his niece, Tracey Rolf; and his nephews, Ricky Pope and Michael McMieken.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 15 at Greenwood Mausoleum, 3344 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. The entombment and services will be held in the "Sanctuary of Psalms", within the mausoleum.
After the entombment the family will be greeting those that would like to attend at Angelo's BBQ Restaurant, 2533 White Settlement Road, Fort Worth, TX 76107, Phone: (817) 332-0357.
