Harvey W. Kline, Jr.-known to friends and family as Wayne-of Bethel Township, passed away on Tuesday evening, September 16, 2025, at Hershey Medical Center. He was 69.
Born in Reading on September 6, 1956, Wayne was the son of the late Harvey Sr. and Claire (Hartman) Zerbe. He proudly served in the United States Army Reserves and later retired from Carpenter Technology in Reading, where he worked as a furnace operator in the Vacuum Induction Melting department.
Wayne was a member of the Shartlesville Fish & Game and the Strausstown Rod & Gun Club. An avid outdoorsman in his younger years, he loved hunting, fishing, and spending time in nature. He also had a lifelong affection for dogs and was rarely without the companionship of his dog, Gunner, or his beloved "granddog," Maxwell. At home, he was quick to share his meal or a snack with them.
Wayne also found great joy in trap shooting, where his competitive spirit, determination, and sense of camaraderie shone through. The friendships he made at the range were deeply meaningful to him.
He is survived by his wife, Gale (Sholl) Kline; his children, Christine Davis, Tammy Barr, Liza Bowles, and Kimberly Kline; and his grandchildren, Gillian Sabados, Charlotte Sabados, and Izzabella Sabados. He is also survived by his siblings, Sandra Faust, Susan Hartman, Kevin Kline, Donna Boltz, and Ricky Kline, along with many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Wayne's life will be held on Saturday, September 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Strausstown Rod & Gun Club Pavilion. In keeping with Wayne's love for animals and the outdoors, the family invites those wishing to honor his memory to consider a donation to the Animal Rescue League of Berks County or to their local Rod & Gun Club in lieu of flowers.

The Schlitzer Allen Pugh Funeral Home of Pottsville, is honored to serve Wayne's family during their time of need.
