Harvey Rines

Harvey Rines, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend passed away on February 20, 2026, at his home in Strawberry Plains, TN.

He enlisted in the Navy when he was 17 years old. After the Navy, he worked at the Shell Service Station in Jefferson City where he met his wife, Mildred. They were married almost 64 years.

Harvey spent his life singing and playing in numerous gospel and bluegrass groups. In his later years, he enjoyed singing and playing the steel guitar and Dobro at his church, Holston Memorial Baptist Church and different Senior Centers. His last day was spent playing with the good folks at South Knoxville Senior Center, an event that Harvey helped start and oversaw for many years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Pearl Rines; brothers, Charles, Stanley, J.R. (Bertie), George (Nell) Rines; sisters, Mary (Frank) Crooke, Catherine (Joe) Wolfenbarger; great grandson, Harrison Rose.

Harvey is survived by his wife, Mildred Rines; children, Chris Rines, Sheila Christopher (Rick); grandchildren, Kayla Rose (Justin) and John Jarnagin (Ashlee); great grandchildren, Braylon, Parker, Grace, and Walker; step grandchildren, Brandon Christopher (April) and Ryan Christopher.

The family would like to thank Pat Wyrick and Gracie Bruner who took Harvey to play music when he could no longer drive.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Fielden Funeral Home with a funeral service to follow at 7:00 pm with Rev. Eric Kiser officiating. Friends and family will gather at 11 am on Wednesday, February 25th, at Eastview Memorial Gardens for a graveside service with Dr. J.W. Taylor officiating. Full military honors will be provided by Morristown VFW #5266.
