Harvey Lee Sanders, a devoted brother, and friend, passed away on March 27, 2026, in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Born on June 26, 1942, in Henry County, KY, Harvey lived a life marked by kindness, an easy-going nature, and a steadfast commitment to his community and country.

Harvey’s journey was one of dedication and service. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era, enlisting on May 10, 1967, and concluding his service on July 3, 1968. During his time in the military, he attained the rank of Specialist 4 (SP4), a testament to his discipline and perseverance. His service was only one aspect of a life defined by loyalty—to his faith, his friends, and his homeland.

A faithful member of the Carrollton Wesleyan Church, Harvey found comfort and friendship among his fellow congregants. His commitment to community extended beyond his church as well; he was an active member of the American Legion Post 41 in Carrollton, KY, where he stood alongside fellow veterans in mutual support and remembrance. Harvey was also affiliated with the former Carrollton Moose Lodge, reflecting his engagement with local organizations that fostered camaraderie and charity.

Harvey’s character was deeply rooted in his easy-going and kind personality, traits that endeared him to many. Those who knew him recall his gentle spirit and unwavering kindness that touched many lives throughout the years.

Harvey is survived by his brother, Garry W. Sanders, and his wife, Michelle, of Valparaiso, Florida. He is also remembered fondly by several cousins who carry forward the warmth of family connection he cherished. He was preceded in death by his father J.T. Sanders, his mother Mary Kathleen (Beckley) Sanders, his brother William Sanders, and his sister Hallie Simmons.

A graveside service to honor Harvey’s memory will be held on April 6, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Port Royal Cemetery in Port Royal, Kentucky. Military honors will be offered by members of the American Legion Post 41 Honor Guard.

Harvey Lee Sanders leaves behind a legacy of kindness, service, and community spirit. His memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him and in the community he proudly served.
