Hashim Ahmed Kapadia passed away peacefully on November 18, 2025, after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Hashim was born on June 18, 1938, in Kutch Mandavi, India. The son of Ahmed and Shirinbai (Merchant) Kapadia.
Hashim left Pakistan in 1964 to attend college at Brigham Young University, where he completed his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in microbiology. His career and love life began in Logan, Utah, where he met his future wife, Charlotte Wood. In 1970, they married and started their 55-year journey together, and were later sealed in the LDS Temple.
Hashim worked tirelessly to provide a safe, stable life for his family. He enjoyed working and investing money in creative and insightful ways. One of Hashim’s greatest achievements was investing in his children’s education and watching all four graduate from college. He loved his family and never wavered in his dedication and support.
After retiring in 2004, Hashim enjoyed traveling to Pakistan, India, Africa, and many places within the U.S. He loved experiencing new places and seeing different parts of the world.
Hashim was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife Charlotte, sons Robert (Allison) and Richard (Gulnara), daughters Rebecca (Chris) O’Donnell and Susan (Dave) Edmonds, grandchildren Mitchell (Emily) Amanda (Alex), Stockton (Lexi), Kameron, Abby, Ian, and Amalia, great-grandchildren Kaydence, Azriel, Ben, Kali, Kash, Nora, and Clover, brother Hassan Ali (Roshin), sisters Fatima (Mohammed) Nazir, Kulsum (Abdul ) Devani, Zubeida (Karim), and many nieces and nephews.
Hashim was preceded in death by his parents, Ahmed and Shirinbai Kapadia, brothers Nooruddin, Abdullah, Akber, Saleem, sisters Zainab (Khamisa), Sakina (Sultan), and nephew Rahim Kapadia.
Family and friends are invited to gather for a viewing on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, from 12:00 to 2:00 PM. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM at Memorial Redwood Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. Interment following services at Memorial Redwood Cemetery at the same address.
