Hassel W. Damron, 80, of Malta passed away at his home on the evening of Thursday, February 12, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on September 11, 1945 in West Virginia to his mother, Thernia and father, Charles Damron along with many other siblings.
Hassel loved being surrounded by family, watching hummingbirds from his porch swing and was had a deep love and appreciation for old cars. He was a fairly skilled golfer and could be found playing a round of golf with his friend, George during the summers. Following his move from West Virginia to Ohio many years ago, Hassel started and ran his own moving company called Local Van Lines, which operated until his retirement after 35 years. Above all, Hassel was a patriot, he enlisted in the United States Army where he served honorably. He always maintained a strong loyalty to his country and was proud of his service.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Damron, his daughter, Vanessa (Dale) Gardner; three step-sons; his granddaughter, Brandie Seals (John Williams); his grandson, Terry (Keisha) Humphrey; his great-granddaughters, Alexxis, Jerzzee and Trinity as well as his best friend George Ward.
In addition to his parents, Hassel is preceded in death by his dog, Useless.
Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects from 3-6:00 PM, Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at the Goebel Funeral Home, 36 N. Buckeye St. Following visitation, Hassel will be cremated and his remains spread by his family.
