MRS. HATTIE HILDA COOK HARRIS, age 87, of Chauncey, GA, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at her residence.

The family will receive family and friends in Southerland Funeral Chapel from 2:00PM-3:00PM Sunday, October 26. Funeral services will be held at 3:00PM Sunday, October 26, in Southerland Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Daniel Cook officiating, with interment in Chauncey City Cemetery.

Hattie was born in Dodge County, GA on March 1, 1938, to the late Celesta Rogers Cook and Robert L. Cook. She attended Eastman High School, and later moved to Jacksonville, FL, where she worked as a clerk for Lerner Shops for many years and was a member of Church of Christ for many years. She met the love of her life, Charles, while living in Jacksonville and they enjoyed over 40 years together until his passing in 2003. She and Charles moved back to Dodge County in 1991 to be closer to her brothers and sisters and they made their home in Chauncey, GA. She worked as a door greeter for Wal-Mart, Inc. for over 28 years, and retired in 2022 at the age of 84. She enjoyed her time working for Wal-Mart and all the opportunities she had to interact with people and talk to over the years. She was someone who believed in hard work, was a dedicated wife, and a loving mother and grandmother who prided herself on taking care of her family. Hattie was preceded in death by her Husband, Charles Harris, Sisters, Lila Garvine, Lois Whittington, Helen Woodard, and Mildred Paul, and Brothers, Robert L. Cook, Jr., Ray Cook, Charles Cook, James Cook, Leslie Cook, and Claude Cook.

She is survived by her Daughter – Hilda Diane Dillon (Gene) of Jacksonville, FL; Sons – Richard Harris of Ludowici, Edward Harris of Chauncey, and Charles Harris, Jr. (Lisa) of Brunswick; 11 Grandchildren – Tanya Kennedy (Andy), Derek Dillon (Mindy), Lesley Seiber, Christina Garrett, Richard T. Harris, Jr., Christina Holloman (Daniel), William Barnhill, Tyler Harris, Carolyn Boyer, James Harris, and Drew Harris; 19 Great-Grandchildren; Sister – Ruth Revier of Eastman; Brother – Daniel Cook (Connie) of Eastman; Numerous nieces and nephews.
