Hayves Earl Streeter, affectionately known as "Mr. H" by many, was a beloved father,
grandfather, fiancé, brother, and friend. He passed away peacefully on May 11, 2025,
just five days before his 82nd birthday.
Born on May 16, 1943, in Kinston, North Carolina, to Rev. Haywood Streeter and Ella
Ruth Streeter, Hayves was the second of four children. He accepted Christ at an early
age, laying the foundation for a life full of purpose, joy, and resilience.
Hayves was full of life, and always ready with a story, a laugh, or a challenge to make
you think. He brought that same energy into every part of his life. He earned a degree in
Physics and Mathematics from Fayetteville State University and went on to complete a
Master's in Nuclear Engineering from Fisk University.
His sharp mind and passion for innovation led him to a career that spanned in both edu-
cation and industry. After teaching Math and Physics at Maggie Walker High School in
Richmond, VA, Hayves brought his talents to General Electric in San Jose, California.
There, he contributed to critical advancements in technology.
Hayves lived in Rio Vista, CA, where he shared a loving life with his partner, Beaulah
Smith.
In his free time, Hayves enjoyed playing chess, golfing, spending time with his
Trilogy 23 men's group, and traveling with Beaulah.
Over the years, Hayves built a rich and meaningful life with those he loved. He was
preceded in death by his oldest daughter Hayvesa "Peaches" Capri Streeter, his sister
Ella Louise, and his parents.
He is lovingly remembered by his two children, Hayves Euvonas Streeter II and Zena
Davenport-Streeter; his grandchildren, LaTeana Hernandez Streeter, Hayves Euvonas
Streeter III, ZaMani Adams, and Zaniyah Adams; and his devoted sisters, Sara Streeter
McRae and Treva Lindsey, who remained close to him throughout his life. Also, Clifton
II, Nolan, and Nicholas Smith who were part of his extended family.
For 63 years, Hayves was a proud and devoted member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity,
Inc., living out the organization's founding principles of leadership, scholarship,
perseverance, and uplift. He served faithfully as a Basileus for the Xi Nu Chapter in San
Jose and a District Representative for District 12, where his leadership, passion, and
dedication left a lasting mark on the fraternity and the broader community.
Hayves was known for his congenial nature and open heart; he truly never met a
stranger. His easy charm, quick wit, and ability to connect with anyone made him a joy
to be around and someone people gravitated towards. His legacy lives on through his
family and in the countless lives he touched with his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering
spirit.
