Hazel was born November 16, 1944 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas to Lucius and Truly (Davis) Reeves. She attended school through middle school which was usual for families that traveled and worked like her family and her did. Hazel picked cotton and worked in gardens most of her young life and still enjoyed these things into her latter years. Hazel married Noble Richard Austin in 1960 and they began a life together that blessed them with 4 children. Hazel was a great creator in sewing and making quilts. She cooked for all the kids and loved making meals. Hazel was a loving, kind woman who made friends everywhere she went. She loved to laugh and always saw the good in everyone. Hazel was anointed with God's message and was very active in her church ministry, discipleship, wherever she could serve. Her husband and her traveled all over assisting in tent revivals, ministering, singing and playing the guitar to people all over the United States. She took her children in tow and loved every minute of it.
Hazel is survived by her daughters, Karen Ann Covey and husband Harlan of Greenforest, Arkansas, and Louise Turner of Brownwood, Texas; her son, Richard Wayne Austin and wife, Annie, of Bradley, West Virginia; and her grandchildren, Stacy Jeanette Ghisson of Clinton, Arkansas; Joshua David Wright and wife, Ashley, of Greenforest, Arkansas; Betty Lee Hounsel of Brownwood, Texas; Ashley Nicole Turner and husband, Brandon, of Brownwood, Texas; Timothy John Turner and wife, Nancy, of Merkel, Texas; and Michal Ray Turner of Merkel, Texas; and 15 great grandchildren.
