Hazel Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Frary Funeral Homes and Cremation Services - Malone on Dec. 6, 2025.
Hazel M. Brown, 95, of Malone passed away on December 2, 2025, at the Alice Hyde Medical Center with her family by her side. Graveside service will be held in the spring at St. Augustine Cemetery, Bangor under the care of the Frary Funeral Home, Malone.
Hazel was born on May 25, 1930, in Bangor, NY to the late Fred and Orda (Jock) Phillips. She attended Malone Central School and graduated from Franklin Academy in 1949. On July 17, 1954, she married Rolland M. Brown at St. Augustine Church, Bangor. Rolland passed away on September 23, 2007. Hazel went to work for Chapins Motor Freight until they were expecting their first child. She devoted her life to her kids and husband as a stay-at-home mom until her youngest graduated college in 1985. She then went to work for many law offices in the area, retiring from the Law Office of Tammy Gordon in the early 2000's.
Hazel was a "classy lady" who enjoyed ceramics, gardening, and loved flowers, especially yellow roses. She was able to walk into a room and design it in an inherent way, as evidenced by her meticulous house, which was always quite decorated for Christmas. Hazel was a member of the St. Augustine Parish in Bangor and was a Den Mother to Cub Scout Pack 33 for many years.
Hazel is survived by her children Deborah (Norman) Bonner of Malone and Barry (Kathryn) Brown of Morrisonville, her grandchildren; Rebecca Shutts (Bruce), Michael Bonner, and Norman "Jamie" Bonner IV, and his partner Sandi Poreda, along with her great-grandchildren Ethan and Emma Shutts and Ben Bonner, and many nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her parents Fred and Orda Phillips, husband Rolland, son Ronald M. Brown on June 25, 1962, and nine siblings.
Memorial contributions can be made in Hazel's memory to the Westville Volunteer Fire Department or the Bangor Volunteer Fire Department. Online condolences can be made to the Brown family at www.fraryfuneralhme.com
