Hazel Marie (Edwards) Wilson, a beacon of love and strength, passed away from this world on July 15, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by her cherished family. Born on November 24, 1953, in the heart of Seymour, Indiana, Hazel’s life was a tapestry woven with caring threads; she was not merely a mother but a nurture, a guiding hand to those fortunate enough to have known her.

A proud graduate of Shields High School in 1972, Hazel’s spirit shone brightly through her faith and her unwavering commitment to helping others. In her younger years, she embraced the role of a candy striper, providing comfort and support to those in need—a reflection of her profound kindness and dedication to community service. It was her nurturing nature and strong will that made her an exceptional mother, someone who balanced tenderness with determination, carving a deep sense of warmth and security for her children.

Hazel found joy in the call of the outdoors; camping under open skies, the laughter shared on boating trips, and the simple serenity of working in her yard brought her immense joy. Her hobbies were not just pastimes; they were pivotal moments spent with family, each activity underscored by her love for them. She had a remarkable way of turning mundane moments into treasured memories, creating lasting bonds through shared adventures.

In her later years, Hazel's life was enriched by the presence of her close-knit family. She is survived by her loving mother, Myrtle Charles Edwards of Seymour, Indiana, her son, Lance Wilson of Seymour, Indiana, step daughters, Melissa Wilson Clifton and Betty Jo Wilson and her devoted siblings: Denver Edwards Jr., along with his wife Laura, of Freetown, Indiana, and Donna Horn, who, alongside her significant other, Chad Creech, resides in Comiskey, Indiana. With two grandchildren, Christopher McQueen and Sasha Stout, her legacy continues to thrive, blossoming further with the joy of four great-grandchildren—Abbi, Summer, Anela, and Brantley.

She was preceded in death by her father, Denver Edwards Sr., her husband James Edward Wilson, her daughter, Angie Williams and her siblings Mark Edwards and Kathy Stout. Hazel's strength and indomitable spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved her. They carry her memory, forever inspired by her caring heart and resilient soul.

The family will receive friends on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the Christensen Family Funeral Home in Seymour, Indiana. The visitation will commence at 4:00 PM, with a memorial service beginning at 6:00 PM. This gathering will be a celebration of Hazel’s remarkable journey, a testament to a life well-lived, and a collective reminder of the unconditional love she freely gave to all.

Hazel Marie (Edwards) Wilson leaves behind a legacy not measured in years, but in the love she radiated, the lives she touched, and the memories that are now etched in the hearts of those she adored. The world may dim in her absence, but her light will continue to illuminate the paths of those she leaves behind.
