Janette (Tumpy) Gryder-Crider, 74, of Statesville passed away on February 13, 2024 at her home surrounded by family and ascended to her heavenly home. She was born January 30,1950 in Statesville to the late John Wesley Gryder and Doris Aileen Gryder who survives.
She graduated from Statesville Senior High School in 1968, then moved on to take some classes at Mitchell Community College.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband Hoke Crider, a daughter Crystal Allison (Bobby), a grandson Noah Kennedy (Marytza Salgado), three sisters, Mary Wilson (Johnny) of Monroe, Barbara Millsaps (Rick) of Statesville and Doris Sams (Charlie) of Troutman, one brother David (Buddy) Gryder (Margarette) of Statesville. She has several nieces and nephews that she loves very much especially Wesley Sams, who gave her the nickname,Toto, years ago. She also has a big extended family through her husband, Hoke, that she loves very much and her fur baby, Rowdy, that she loved to spoil. She was predeceased by her father, John Wesley Gryder.
Janette loved to go camping, especially at the beach. She loved to travel and see new places. And she loved butterflies. Janette was a member of Bible Baptist Church.
A memorial service will be held on February 24, 2024 at 3:00 with a visitation starting at 2 at Bible Baptist Church on Gilbert Road in Statesville. Flowers can be sent to the home at 160 Pottery Drive. The family is asking any monetary donations to be made to Gordon's Hospice House.
