Hazel Marie Guyett

Hazel Marie Guyett, 90, of Ottawa, Kansas, passed away Saturday, June 29, 2024 at AdventHealth Ottawa, Ottawa, Kansas.
Graveside services will be held 10:00am, Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Highland Cemetery, Ottawa, Kansas.
Family will greet friends from 5:30-7:30pm, Friday, July 5, 2024, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.
She was born on Friday, March 30, 1934 in Rantoul, Kansas, the daughter of Marion Albert and Rozella Hope (McCann) Schmoe.
She lived in Rantoul, Kansas until moving to Ottawa in 1952. She moved back to Rantoul in 1957 and returned to Ottawa in 1969.
Hazel graduated from Rantoul High School with the class of 1952.
Hazel was a former member of Aerie Lodge #2700, Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and the Women's Bowling Association and a current member of Union Chapter #15, Order of the Eastern Star, all in Ottawa.
On Sunday, February 22, 1953, Hazel was united in marriage with Herbert F. "Herb" Guyett at Ottawa, Kansas. He preceded her in death on August 24, 1998. She was also preceded in death by her parents, mother, Rozella Schmoe; father and step mother, Marion and Velma Schmoe; son Mike Guyett; brothers, Homer Schmoe and Floyd Schmoe; sisters, Dorothy Gilpin, Donnie Nichols, Gladys Butter, Myrtle Bones, Mollie Lee, and Jean Jones; grandson Damon Guyett; and great granddaughter, Jessica Guyett.
Hazel is survived by her sons, Jeff Guyett of Missouri and Trinity Guyett and his wife, Shawna of Kentucky; daughters, Cathy Bien and her husband, David of Ottawa, Kansas, Lynda Topp and her husband, Mike of Richmond, Kansas and Scarlett Guyett of Louisiana; brothers, George Schmoe of Ottawa, Merlin Schmoe of Baldwin City, Kansas, and Dale Schmoe of Ottawa; sisters, Virgie Sink of Ottawa, Jeanette Milbern of Richmond, Kansas, and Audra Detwiler of Richmond, Kansas; sixteen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She worked thirty years as a seamstress at H.D. Lee in Ottawa until the plant closed; five years at Designer Products until the plant closed and five years at Positive Impressions and was a cook and server for seven years at Lincoln Elementary School until retiring in 2009.
