HAZEL "Snookie" MCFADDIN MCKENZIE, age 81 of Paintsville, Kentucky passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Highlands ARH in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. She was born on March 11, 1943 in Johnson County to the late George Holbrook McFaddin and Kandie Mae Tackett McFaddin of Southside, Paintsville, Kentucky. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, Fred Willard McKenzie; four brothers: Larry Ronald McFaddin & birth twin of Paintsville, Kentucky, George Sherman McFaddin of Staffordsville, Kentucky and Gary Douglas McFaddin (and wife Lucille) of Hager Hill, Kentucky; and one nephew, Jeffrey Thomas McFaddin of Staffordsville, Kentucky.
Snookie is survived by one daughter, Judge Janie McKenzie-Wells (husband Frank Allen Wells, Jr.) of Staffordsville, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Dr. Katherine Ann Wells of Columbus, Ohio; two brothers: Howard Thomas McFaddin (wife Mary) of Richmond, Kentucky and Phillip Lloyd McFaddin (wife Clotene) of Paintsville, Kentucky; and one sister-in-law, Kathy Rice McFaddin of Staffordsville, Kentucky.
Snookie is also survived by 8 nieces and nephews; Dr. David McFaddin (wife Melissa) of Richmond, Kentucky; Wesley McFaddin (wife Karla) of Kevil, Kentucky; Gari Howard (husband Ray) of Chuckey, Tennessee; Gary "Bubby" McFaddin (wife Rebecca) of Georgetown, Kentucky; Brian Dean McFaddin (wife Cassie) of Lexington, KY; Jessie Trimble (husband Todd) of Staffordsville, Kentucky; Charles McFaddin (wife Jodi) of Lexington, Kentucky; and Michael McFaddin of Staffordsville, Kentucky. A host of other family and friends also survive including her cherished Granddog, Max, who she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Paintsville, Kentucky, with burial to follow in the Highland Memorial Park at Staffordsville, Kentucky. Friends may visit at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home on Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 2:00pm until 8:00pm, and on Sunday until time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to be made to the First Baptist Church, 330 College Street, Paintsville, Kentucky.
