Obituary
Hazel G (Hillier) Pierce was born September 25, 1921 in Bath, England to her parents, William Hillier and Florence (Brinkworth) Hillier. She met her husband, Louis Pierce, in England toward the end of WWII. They were married for 33 years at the time of Lou's death in 1979. After she left England, she lived in Pennsylvania until Lou rejoined the military. They subsequently were stationed in Germany where she was diagnosed with tuberculosis. She was transported to Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Colorado where she spent two years recovering from TB. Her children Lou, Jr and Linda lived with Lou's parents while Hazel was in the hospital. While in Colorado, her youngest child Loraine was born. When she left the hospital, she and Lou returned to Pennsylvania to pick up Lou, Jr and Linda and the five of them moved to Texas. From Texas they moved to Alabama, then to Arizona and then to Turkey, one of Hazel's favorite places. Hazel, Lou and their 2 daughters returned to Alabama after Lou's retirement from the Army. At the young age of 94, Hazel relocated to Colorado to live with her son. In March of this year, she fell and broke her hip. While convalescing after surgery, she became ill and died on March 18, 2022 at the age of 100.
Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Lou; her daughter, Loraine; her daughter-in-law, Sandy; her grandson, Joshua; and her great grandson, Sawyer.
Hazel is survived by her son Lou, her daughter, Linda; 16 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 @ 2:00PM, Golden Church of the Nazarene, 17455 West 16th Avenue, Golden, Colorado 80401
