Hazel L. Shugars

Rew, PA - Hazel L. Shugars, 73, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, of Rew, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2025 at Olean General Hospital.

Hazel was born in Westline, on August 14, 1952, she was a daughter of the late James J. and Betty (Colvin) Shay. She attended M.J. Ryan Elementary School, and graduated from Bradford High School.

She was united in marriage to Robert L. Shugars on August 28, 1969, in Olean, NY, with Rev. Fred Moore officiating.

Hazel devoted much of her life to caregiving. She worked at the Bradford Ecumenical Home, Bradford Regional Medical Center in housekeeping department, and later as a nurse's aide at the Bradford Nursing Pavilion. Her compassion and dedication touched countless lives throughout her career.

She was also a member of the Eagles Club.

Hazel is survived by her husband Robert of 56 years, one daughter, Hazel (the late Greg) Winston, one son, Robert (Brandi) Shugars of Bradford; and her sister, Pat Reinaid of Kane. She is also survived by four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dick Robinson and Jim Shay Jr., and one sister, Sandy Calendar.

Friends will be invited to attend a memorial service at a later date to be announced.
