Hazel Wells Obituary
She will await the resurrection at Elijah O. Merritte Eternal Rest Cemetery in Jeanerette, LA.
The visitation will be held on Saturday, January, 31, 2026, at Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church beginning at 8:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
Mrs. Hazel Mae Westley Wells was a resident of New Iberia, LA. She transitioned peacefully from her earthly home at 7:50 A.M. on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Hazel accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and was a member of Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church in New Iberia, LA. Her infectious smile and joy for life brought warmth to all around her.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Tawaski Wells of New Iberia, LA; five sons, Paul Ervin Knatt III, Michael Wayne Charles, Jr., Johnathan Lee Charles, Darian Charles, and Kanye' Charles all of New Iberia, LA; one daughter, Shamika Gloud (J'Bryan) of New Iberia, LA; four brothers, Thomas Westley Jr. (Crystal) of Loreauville, LA, Sidney Westley of Lydia, LA, Elijah Westley Sr. of New Iberia, LA, and Nicholas Boutte (Antoinette) of New Orleans, LA, three sisters, Patricia W. Provost ( Cyrus) of Loreauville, LA, Angela Westley of New Iberia, LA and Nina Boutte Martinez (Susan) of New Orleans, LA; special niece, Aries Antoine; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas Westley; mother, Nola Mae Boutte; one granddaughter, Jhene Mae Gloud; maternal grandmother, Hazel Channette Boutte; and two nephews Byson Provost & Braylon Westley.
Active Pallbearers are Tawaski Wells, Paul Ervin Knatt III, Darian Charles, Michael Wayne Charles, Jr., Johnathan Charles, and Kanye' Charles.
Honorary Pallbearers are Nicholas Boutte, Bryson Provost, Austin Antoine, J'Bryan Gloud, Jy'Ron Knatt, Davien Johnson, Elijah Westley Jr. Jessie Broussard, and Cyrus Provost Sr.
