Thomasena Wells Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Graves Medley Funeral Services on Mar. 2, 2026.
Mrs. Thomasena Williams-Wells October 26, 1938 – February 21, 2026

Mrs. Thomasena Williams-Wells peacefully transitioned on February 21, 2026, leaving a legacy of faith, strength, love, and an unforgettable personality. Born on October 26, 1938, in Camden, South Carolina, to Eulene and Rachel Williams, she moved at an early age to Stamford, Connecticut, with her family. There, she lived a life devoted to God, grounded in deep love for her family and marked by a spirit that touched everyone she encountered.

On August 20, 1968, she was united in Holy Matrimony to Willie B. Wells. Thomasena was truly one of a kind-outspoken yet kind, full of humor, and never shy about speaking her mind. Though short in stature, she was mighty in spirit, carrying herself with resilience and determination. After relocating several times, she and Willie settled in Ashburn, Virginia, in 2014.

Family meant everything to Thomasena. She cherished special holiday dinners, family reunions, and long phone conversations with loved ones. She took great pride in preparing her famous collard greens and cabbage-favorites that no one else could quite master. She also delighted in watching Family Feud and The Price Is Right, simple joys that brought laughter and lighthearted moments into her home. She was truly a blessing to all.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Willie B. Wells; her cherished son, Lemuel Williams; and her daughter, Eda Rush.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory: her sons, Darnell Luckett, Reginald Williams (Rose Marie), and Fredrick Rush; and her niece, Shirley Williams. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Natasha Topps (William), Shvonne Craig- (William), Rigene Williams, and Darnell Luckett Jr.; and her great-grandchildren: Jasmyn Johnson, Catherine Craig, and Madison Topps.

We offer love to family members: Kryce, Deborah, Sharon, Bianca, Pam, Wanda, Joyce, Devon, Beverly Jean, Sharon, Lamar, Eric, Thomas, Shakira, Thomas, Shoshanah, Sherrell, Eric, Ayisha, Talya, Wanda, Sheek, Terryn, Kashika, Jaymes, Vincent, Maggie-Sue, Pat, Devon, Jurlene, many other loved ones.

We would also like to recognize those who faithfully checked on Thomasena, prayed with her, visited her, and cared for her.
