Otha Grasty Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Graves Medley Funeral Services on Feb. 16, 2026.
The world became a little less bright on January 31, 2026, with the passing of Otha (OG) A. Grasty, 82. Born on December 11,1943 in Wyco, West Virginia, Otha's infectious laughter and unending humor brought joy to everyone around him. He was the last surviving child of George L. Grasty Sr. and Jessie Mae Taylor Grasty.

Otha was married to Jean G. Grasty for 53 years. As a veteran of the U.S. Army, Otha served his country with honor and integrity. After his military career, he then went on to retire from the City of Stamford, after many dedicated years of service.

Otha had a big personality and was always talking "junk". Along with that trash talking, he shared words of wisdom that made him unforgettable and drew people to him like a magnet. He truly was the life of the party.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Jean G. Grasty; his daughters, Tracey C. Grasty, Yvonne Grasty, and Nikki Grasty. His grandchildren, Sgt. Robert A. Richardson (Izzabelle), Reese D. Richardson, Deshawn A. Grasty, Chris K. Grasty, and the late Laquam J. Grasty; his great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Otha's legacy is one of integrity, sound advice, laughter, and love. His enthusiasm for life will live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
