Heather Rae Dingman, 85, of Columbia Heights, passed away on July 6, 2024. She was known for being a fiercely independent woman with a friendly face that everybody could talk to.
Heather grew up in Northeast Minneapolis on Lincoln Street which was just a few doors down from her future husband, Doug. After graduating from Eddison High school, she married her best friend, Doug. Together they raised 3 boys. Growing up Heather's family had a cabin on Spirit Lake, and Heather would take the boys up there for long summer getaways. Doug knew that when she went for a walk, she would be gone for quite a while as she loved to spend time getting lost in nature.
After retirement, Heather loved spending time with her grandchildren. She kept busy attending all 5 beloved grandchildren's activities. She was the lead cheerleader for all sporting activities. She loved her dogs, especially their last dog Joker.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Helmer Johnson, her sisters Hope Vasseur and Heidi Wennerlind, and her brother Butch Wennerlind.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Douglas, her sons Paul (Karol), Phil (Jeanne), Steve and her 5 grandchildren, Brandon, Mary, Jake (Laura), Erin Redepenning (Austin), Kendall Dingman-Riley (Mackenzie) and great-grandchild Lennon
