Heather Gildea, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, December 18, 2024 at Johnson County Community Hospital. She was born on June 11, 1947 to the late William and Agnes MacGregor. In addition to her parents Heather was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Gildea, and brother, Thomas MacGregor.
Heather was a valued member of the First United Methodist Church choir. She embraced a call to serve by volunteering with medical missions, filling the food pantry box at church every Sunday, and working with Helene disaster relief. Additionally, she served as secretary on the board of Johnson County Safe Haven. Heather enjoyed sewing and painting, and was an asset to the homeschool community with her sewing classes at the library. She also volunteered at the Johnson County Center for the Arts.
Those left to cherish her memories include her daughter, Laurie Jean Wurm and partner Rosemary McLaughlin; son, Jesse MacGregor and wife Laura Yeackel; grandchildren, Lucy Kathleen McLaughlin, John Mattison McLaughlin, and Cora Mae MacGregor; special friends, Karin Bell, Eileen Breisch, and Vickie and AllenWurtz; and several cousins.
A memorial service for Heather will be held on Friday, January 10, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service.
