Heather Evangeline White was born on September 26th, 1962, in Swabys Hope, Manchester, Jamaica, to the late Deacon Raphael G. and Deaconess Mabel L. (Channer) White. The second to last of ten children, Heather grew up surrounded by love, laughter, and the vibrant energy of a big family.
In the early 1970s, she journeyed to the United States, where her family and she made Boston, Massachusetts their home. Growing up, Heather was described as beautiful, kindhearted, hardworking, and a very confident young lady. Heather whose presence lit up every room she entered had a lasting impression on everyone. During her childhood and teenage years, she attended and graduated from the Chittick Elementary School, William B. Rogers Middle School and Madison Park High School, where she made lifelong memories and friendships with her best friends, Sheila Garth and Gail Kelsey. Heather was strong-willed and fearless. She had a saying that she could "show you better than she could tell you," and everyone who knew her knew she meant it.
In March of 1992 and September of 1993, Heather was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Taylor and Ariana. Whom she raised with unwavering love, pride, and devotion too. Being their mother was her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into guiding them into the strong, independent, graceful young women they are today. Heather spent lots of time with her girls. The 3 of them would enjoy weekend dinners exploring different restaurants, enjoyed going to the movies, clothes and shoe shopping, walking through the fabric store or Lowe's hardware store. Heather, Taylor, and Ariana would anticipate their summer visits to The Clam Box to get their seafood platters. Making lasting memories with her girls was her favorite priority.
Heather had a host of jobs throughout the years. In 1998, Heather joined National Amusements as an accountant clerk, where she dedicated 28 years of loyal service. Her colleagues remember her for her humor, warmth, her contagious laugh, and yes even her "loving bossiness." Heather had a gift for making people feel seen and appreciated, and her presence in the office will be deeply missed.
Throughout the years, Heather had a passion for fashion. She loved to sew and had a remarkable talent for creating beautiful clothing. Her siblings could always count on her for a custom-made dress, skirts, and many other items, each one made with her signature touch of style and love. Heather enjoyed cooking, especially for family gatherings, where she could share her favorite flavorful dishes and laughter around the table. She found a renewed love for traveling, trying new foods, watching her favorite football team The New England Patriots, tennis, and the HGTV channel.
Heather's life was a reflection of her strength, creativity, and compassion. She lived with purpose and a sense of peace, and she was all about making new memories with the people she loved most. After battling with cancer for over a year, Heather quietly and peacefully departed this life on Thursday, October 16th, 2025 surrounded by her children and family. Heather leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience, and beauty. Her spirit will continue to shine brightly through her daughters, her family, and all those who were blessed to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother George A. White and honorary brother Herbert R. White Sr. Heather will be lovingly remembered by her daughters: Taylor R. and Ariana K. Hughes of Boston, MA; sisters and brothers: Carmen Forrest, Robert White, Patricia Roach, Reginald White, Ouida Bradshaw, Joan Freeman, Ivy Lawson, and Claire Hussey; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and all who cherished her. Though Heather has left this earthly home, her laughter, grace, and kindness will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.
