"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." – 2 Timothy 4:7
Rosemary Watson was born on November 7, 1941, in Ridgeland, South Carolina, to the late Mrs. Sadie Jones Frazier and Mr. Willie Frazier. She was educated in the Jasper County School System and was a proud graduate of Jasper County High School.
In the early 1960s, Rosemary relocated to Boston, Massachusetts, where she later met the love of her life, Mr. Leonard Watson. They were united in holy matrimony in April of 1964 at Concord Baptist Church of Boston, MA, where Rosemary was a faithful member. During their marriage, Leonard who actively served in the United States Air Force, was reassigned to Germany, and Germany is where they resided until the completion of his tour of duty in the late 1960s.
Upon returning to Boston, they established their home and were blessed with two children, Deirdre D. Watson and Geoffrey F. Watson.
Throughout her life, Rosemary was a dedicated and diligent worker. For many years, she was employed in the Underwriting Department at The New England, located in the Back Bay Area of Boston, until her retirement. Following her retirement from The New England, Rosemary served as a Securitas security officer at Harvard University, a position she faithfully held until 2016.
Rosemary was an avid reader and looked forward to making regular trips to her local library to peruse the shelves and discover new and interesting books; she especially loved reading Romance novels. Education was also very important to her, and she pursued higher education at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts.
Although small in stature, Rosemary possessed a mighty spirit. She was known for her strength, determination, candidness, and sense of humor. One of her favorite sayings, fondly remembered by family and friends, was: "Don't write a check that your behind can't cash."Her wit, words, and wisdom left lasting impressions on all who knew her.
Rosemary Watson passed away peacefully at her home on September 30,2025.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, Mr. Willie Frazier and Mrs. Sadie Frazier; and her siblings, Mr. Arthur "Sonny" Jones (Leola), Mr. Willie Frazier, Jr. (Sheila), and Mrs. Louise Russ (the late Mr. James Russ).
Rosemary leaves to cherish her precious memory: her devoted children, Ms. Deirdre D. Watson, Mr. Geoffrey F. Watson, and Mr. Marcus D. Watson (grandson and adopted son); her grandson, Mr. Ricardo "Ricky" Watson, all of Boston, Massachusetts; her beloved sisters, Mrs. Gladys Gloria Smith (the late Bishop Joe Lewis Smith) of Boston, Massachusetts, and Ms. Thelma Rispers of New York, New York; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.
Rosemary's life was one of faith, love, perseverance, and quiet strength. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
