Hector A. Isabelle

BARRE - Hector A. Isabelle, 95, of Barre, VT passed away peacefully in his home with his loving wife Marilyn and family caring for him on Nov. 20, 2025.

Born July 10, 1930, he was the son of the late Stanley and Marie-Ange (Brousseau) Isabelle. He attended school at South Barre, VT but was largely self-educated after graded school from hard work and an ability to learn new things easily.

Hector served in the U.S. Army from 1954 -1956 during the Korean War. He married Marilyn Warnes in St. Monica Church in 1958. They lived on French Street in Barre, VT until he started to build his home on Jacques Street in 1959 after their 1st child Stephen was born.

Hector raised all his Children with Marilyn a hard-working stay at home mom in his home.

He was a contractor and built houses besides his own. He worked for Lacillade Lumber as well. Hector started Isabelle Electrical Supply Company in 1970 in the basement of his home until he had a building constructed in South Barre, VT. Hector was very active in his Church at St. Monica. His Catholic faith and love of our Lord was at the center of his life. He was a Eucharistic Minister, a member of the school board at St. Monica, involved with the Knights of Columbus, and the Capitol Campaign for funding St. Monica Parish. Hector was also a board member for Washington Co. Mental Health among many other things.

Hector hunted, fished, tended to his garden, and was always helping family and others with any project that he was asked to lend a hand.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years; his daughter, Mary McEwen and her husband, Princeton, of South Carolina; his daughter, Bernadette Guyette, of Barre, VT; his son Peter, of Florida; his son Greg and his wife, Angie, of Barre Town, VT; his son Mark, of Barre, VT; his son Tom and his wife, Crystal, of Barre, VT.

Also surviving are 17 grandchildren, 8 greatgrandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Hector was predeceased by his son Stephen Isabelle; as well as two sisters and four brothers.

Calling hours will be held at Pruneau-Polli-Funeral Home in Barre on Friday Nov. 28, 2025, 5 pm-7pm

A Mass of Christian Burial and celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025, at 1pm in St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. Burial will follow the Mass, to Hope Cemetery in Barre.
