WATERBURY – It is with profound sadness that the family of Hector Perez, age 87, shares news of his peaceful passing on December 28, 2025 in the comfort of his home surrounded by those who loved him. He was the devoted husband of Perfecta (Simons) Perez.
Hector was born on August 5, 1938, in Peñuelas, Puerto Rico, the son of the late Carlos and Ramona (Correa) Perez. Hector lived a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to family and community. Hector was a proud veteran who bravely enlisted in the U.S. Army, proudly serving his country with honor before settling in Connecticut. There, he met the love of his life, Perfecta Simons Perez, with whom he shared an extraordinary 61 years of marriage. Together, they created a warm and loving home, where family was always the center of their universe. For many years, Hector worked as a sand mixer at the Alloy Foundry in Naugatuck. He took pride in his work but found even greater joy in his time spent with family and friends. An avid bingo player and domino enthusiast, Hector had a passion for singing folk songs and dancing, often bringing a spirit of celebration to every gathering. He was a devoted member of the Waterbury Puerto Rican Club on Baldwin Street and wore his New York Yankees cap with pride, cheering for his team with fervor. In this time of sorrow, let us remember the joy and love Hector brought into the world, as we cherish the memories and the laughter, he shared with all of us. Rest in peace, dear Hector; you will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
Left to honor his legacy and cherish his memory, besides his beloved wife are his son, Marco Perez, his daughter, Yvette Perry, and his brother, Ismael Perez. Hector and Perfecta were blessed with 6 grandchildren; Gordon and Aisha Perry, Zayna, Marco Jr, Ashley and Mason Perez, and 5 great grandchildren; Naylah, Nya, Kendall, Azari, and Alaia and his former son in law Gordon Perry Sr.
