Hector Grant Ramori of Cuba, MO was born Tuesday, May 23, 1944, in Rosati, MO to Domenic Joseph Ramori and Daphna Elizabeth Ramori, nee Luck. He passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at his home in Cuba, MO at the age of 81 years, 5 months, and 8 days.
Hector graduated from Cuba High School with the Class of 1962. At the age of 21, he proudly enlisted in the United States National Guard, where he served honorably for six years. On March 5, 1966, Hector married the love of his life, Billie Jean Jackson, in Steelville at the home of her parents. Together, they built a loving home and were blessed with two sons, Jeff and Jimmy. Hector was an avid outdoorsman whose passion for hunting began at a young age with his uncle, Tom Luck. He especially loved turkey and deer hunting and excelled at both. In his younger years, he also enjoyed small game hunting-quail, rabbits, and raccoons-and raised his own bird dogs and coon hounds. He passed this love of the outdoors on to his sons, teaching them to be skilled and respectful hunters. Some of his happiest moments were spent hunting alongside them, both when they were young and later as adults.
Professionally, Hector worked in construction before joining the Missouri Department of Transportation, where he began as a surveyor and later moved to the maintenance department in 1982. Through hard work and dedication, he rose to become District Superintendent, retiring after an impressive 35-year career. Even after retirement, Hector continued to serve part-time, overseeing new operations and sharing his expertise. In his retirement, Hector enjoyed the simple pleasures of life-hunting, spending time with family, and doing things on his own terms. His favorite pastime was gathering with friends to play cards at the Steelville Country Club every Wednesday and Saturday evening. Hector will be remembered for his strong work ethic, love of the outdoors, deep devotion to his family, and the many friendships he built throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents Domenic and Daphna Ramori; parents-in-law Herman and Dorothy Jackson; and sister Phyllis Blum.
Hector is survived by his loving wife of 59 ½ years, Billie Ramori of Cuba, MO; two sons, Jeff (wife Mara) Ramori of Steelville, MO and Jimmy Ramori of Cuba, MO; grandchildren, Nicholas Ramori of Cuba, MO, Kristen (husband Jackson) Bushdiecker of Cherryville, MO, and Dalton Ramori of Steelville, MO; great grandchildren, Freddy and Fletcher Bushdiecker of Cherryville, MO; special friends, Eddie Rutz, Bob Basham, and Charlie Schroyer all of Cuba, MO; many other relatives and friends.
Visitation is from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Hutson Funeral Home, Cuba, MO. Celebration of Life Service will immediately follow at 11:00 AM with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating with military honors to follow. Following Hector's wishes, the family chose cremation as his final disposition and will have an inurnment at Steelville Cemetery at a later date.
