Heeja Helen Shin, a devoted healthcare professional and entrepreneurial spirit, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2026 at the age of 85.
Heeja was a long-standing resident of Springfield, PA and called this community home for 35 years before relocating to Los Angeles, California, where she spent her more recent years.
Born in Choong Chung Do, South Korea, she was the daughter of the late Sal Yeong Chung and Kum Sam Kim.
Heeja dedicated her life to the service of others, most notably through her work as a Registered Nurse in the healthcare industry, where she made a significant impact on countless lives with her compassion and skill. Beyond her nursing career, she was a successful business owner, managing multiple enterprises over more than two decades, demonstrating her remarkable versatility and commitment to excellence.
Heeja's legacy is one of dedication, resilience, and an unwavering work ethic. She balanced her profound care for those in need with her sharp business acumen, leaving an indelible mark in each sphere she touched. Her contributions extended far beyond her professional achievements, reflecting her generous spirit and the quiet strength she exhibited throughout her life.
Heeja was the beloved wife of the late Pylkyun Shin; the loving mother of Hyonah Shin, Hyonchun Shin, and Hyonwoo Shin. She was the caring and devoted grandmother of Daltrey Schmidt, Anchul Schmidt, Owen Shin, Hayden Shin, and Kieran Shin. Heeja is also survived by her loving sister, Moon Ja Nam, as well as her dear niece, Chris Yungsun Chung, as well as many other nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Viewing on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, 9:30 to 11:00 AM at The Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA 19073, followed by her Funeral Service commencing at 11:00 AM. Interment thereafter at SS. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield, PA.
