Donohue Funeral Home - Newtown SquareDaniel J. McNichol, 78, born to Daniel J. and Dorothy (Loftus) McNichol with sisters Barbara Daly and Joan Pirrone, of Stonehurst, PA, died on March 15, 2026. Dan graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School in 1965 and was inducted into the Bonner Hall of Fame in 2021. After graduation, he served with the US Army during the Vietnam War. He then went on to study at Pierce Jr. College and Villanova University and worked as an executive in financial sales.
Dan had a big heart and was always giving back to his community. After retiring, he volunteered at Riddle Memorial Hospital and Delaware Valley Children’s Charity. Dan loved to vacation and spent many summers at the Jersey Shore on Miami Beach Avenue in Wildwood Crest; right of the pipe andstraight to the water’s edge. Dan was an avid Philadelphia sports fan who bled green through every heartbreak and triumph. He was the life of the party, lighting up every space (and dance floor) he graced and making everyone feel like the most important person there. No gathering was complete without him, and no one left without laughing. But his favorite time was spent with family and friends. Dan spent his last years living with his beloved Patricia Burns in Wayne, PA.
He is survived by his children, Jill Maire (McNichol) Py, Daniel J. McNichol, Jr. (Ashley Soto McNichol), and Katelyn (McNichol) Rom (Ryan Rom), and six grandchildren: Lauren, Meghan, Brynlee, Emilia, Carson, and Solomon “Solly - and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Friends and family are invited to Dan’s visitation on Monday, March 30, 6–8 PM, and Tuesday, March 31, 9:30–11 AM, followed by a funeral service at Donohue Funeral Home, 3300 West Chester Pike, Newtown Square, PA. Burial to immediately follow at Saints Peter and Paul Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dan’s name to his alma mater, Monsignor Bonner High School. Please make checks payable to “MBAP” and mail to 403 N. Lansdowne Avenue, Drexel Hill, PA 19026.
