Heidi J. Fray Obituary
Heidi Fray, 68, a loving mother, dedicated sister, and extended family builder, passed away peacefully at home in West Seattle on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
Heidi never met a stranger. She was a nurturer, a listener, a steady presence, and a safe haven. Whether raising her daughter, supporting friends, or helping family members, Heidi's compassion knew no bounds. Her love and care touched everyone around her. Whole and human, she let the world in, even the hard parts, and in doing so, she taught us how to love.
She dedicated her professional life to helping people: infants, children, seniors, and those in crisis- find growth, build community, and develop a sense of belonging.
The many summers at Four Winds Camp on Orcas Island deeply influenced her life, helping her recognize the hidden beauty in the world and in people. Her creativity embraced all the crayons in the box, turning potential into magic. She loved colors, music, songs, flowers, foods from around the world, and throw pillows.
Her passing leaves a void that will be impossible to fill, but her loving, caring, and creative spirit will be remembered and cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know her. She left us with smiles on our faces and songs in our hearts.
Heidi is survived by her daughter Avalee; Avalee's father Robert McCroskey; her sisters Martha, Leslie, and Erin, her brother John; along with her nieces and nephews, Hadden, Wells, Henry, Annabelle, and Lily.
