Heinz Faltermeier Obituary
On Wednesday, August 18, 2021, Heinz Faltermeier, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away at the age of 92.
Heinz was born on February 15, 1929, in Karlsruhe Aue, Germany to Jakob and Anna Faltermeier. On November 22, 1947, he married the love of his life Gerda Schwarz and together, raised their daughter Monika. In March of 1954 he and his beautiful wife, Gerda and adoring daughter made the long journey across the Atlantic Ocean moving to the United States.
Heinz had a passion for woodworking and creating beautiful treasures with his hands. His woodworking ranged from building furniture for his family, doll furniture for his great-grandchildren to the most exquisite and intricate violins.
He was also an avid Gardner, who loved to spend hours in his garden planting just the right vegetables to flavor his amazing homemade soups that warmed his family and friends during the cold winter months. When he wasn't tending to his garden, he was pruning his many roses so he always had beautiful flowers for his loving wife. Another of his favorite past times was watching European football especially when the Germans were playing in the world cup with his daughter and football buddy.
For many years, Heinz worked for the Watching Board of Education caring for the school grounds and facilities. Once, after the school invested over $65,000 for new computers he saved them even more money by building the teacher's desk and the entire computer desks for the new lab. His master craftsmanship was admired by the school they dedicated the lab in his honor.
Heinz is survived by his wife Gerda, his daughter Monika, his two granddaughters, Lori Ann Fugaro, (Nick Fugaro) and Jennifer (Brian) Hanlon, his 5 great-grandchildren Isabella, Ava, Nicky, Lily and Emma.
Heinz was a beautiful soul, one of a kind, so gentle and loving to all those who knew him, he will be missed but we are forever grateful he is at peace with his heavenly family.
There will be a small private service for immediate family and friends.
